Supreme Courtએ Lata Singh v. State of U.P. (2006)માં સ્પષ્ટ શબ્દોમાં કહ્યું: "once a person becomes a major he or she can marry whosoever he/she likes."
2. બે routes સમજો
Route A - Religious marriage + registration:
Route B - Court marriage (Special Marriage Act): કોઈ religious ceremony વગર, Marriage Officer સમક્ષ civil marriage.
Gujarat Registration of Marriages Act, 2006ની Section 4 કહે છે: Stateમાં થતું દરેક marriage register થવું જ જોઈએ.
અને Section 14 મુજબ employers અને Government/semi-Government bodies marital status કે nomination બદલતાં marriage registration certificate માંગી શકે - એટલે practical lifeમાં certificate ઉપયોગી જ છે. [2]
6. Court marriage
- Instant નથી: 30 દિવસની notice-publication window Actમાં built-in છે.
7. Practical checklist
- Calendar: Notice → 30 દિવસ publication/objection window → solemnization.
- Certificate સાચવો: SMA certificate (Route B) કે Gujarat registration certificate (Route A) - bank, passport, visa, employer record બધે માગે છે.
8. Bottom line
